Obituary of a Pioneer
Alexander Wade was born in Harmony, New York, April 5, 1823, and died in Colfax, Iowa, March 8, 1916. He was united in marriage to Fanny E. Cunningham July 10, 1856 in Princeton, Illinois. To this union nine children were born; Mack, of Spirit Lake; Ella Hodgett, of Kewanee, Illinois; Lola Anderson, of Iowa City; Mame Baker, of Rockwell City; Bell Stiles, of Wilton; Durley, of Colfax, all of whom survive to mourn his loss. He also leaves one sister, Helen Marr, of Chautauqua, N. Y. All of the children except two, Lola Anderson and Anna Tupper, were present at the funeral. His wife preceded him in death by twenty-five years.
