Myron William Abbott, returned to his Father in Heaven and reunited with his wife Mary on December 29, 2010. The cause of death was myelofibrosis.

Myron was born December 5, 1930 to Susann Myrtle and Samuel Abbott in Cedar City, Utah. The youngest of five children, he grew up in Paragonah and spent the summers in Bear Valley.

On March 16, 1950 he married his sweetheart Mary Alta Benson in the St. George Temple. They made their home in his grandfather's three room adobe house which he, by the labor of his hands, expanded to accommodate his seven children and four foster children. In recent years the home has become a gathering place for Sunday dinners, friends, and family, including his 32 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren who loved to be with Myron.

Myron supported his family by work in the Bear Valley Rock Quarry, making cheese at ParaDale in Parowan, the Iron Mine, printing the Iron County Record, and finished his employment managing the Parowan Stake Farm until he retired to care for his wife Mary. Myron was always industrious and actively engaged in church, family and civic affairs. He served in multiple callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, including Elders Quorum, Bishop, High Council, Stake Clerk, Temple Ordinance Worker, and was a consistent and loved home teacher. He served as President of the Paragonah Reservoir Co., Paragonah Town Board for numerous terms, and Farm Service Committee for Iron County. Through the years he also took great joy in working with his children and grandchildren on the family farm.

Myron is survived by his children; Klea (Rodney) Knight of Cedar City, UT., Lee (Bonnie) Abbott of Alpine, UT., David Abbott of Paragonah, UT., Russell (Margaret) Abbott of Sandy, UT., Donna (Ralph) Lister of Paragonah, UT., Richard (Michele) Abbott of Paragonah, UT., and Dana (Jed) Knight of Elko, NV. His sisters; Emma Rasmussen of Parowan, UT., and Carol Butterfield of Ogden, UT. His brothers-in-law; Ralph (Linda) Benson of Orem, UT., and Roy (Jackie) Benson of St. George, UT.

He is preceded in death by his wife Mary, sister Orilla, brothers Tom and Keith and grandson Will Abbott.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Paragonah LDS Ward Chapel. A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2011 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Pragonah LDS Ward Church, and again on Monday, January 3, 2011 from 9:00- 10:30 am at the Church.
