Daughter of Rev. James A. & Laura McAdoo Chresfield, Annie, a graduate of Scotia Seminary with advance studies at Winston-Salem Teachers College and Johnson C. Smith University, was a schoolteacher at the Winchester School (taught the primary grades for 46 years).

During WWII (& before), she was with the American Red Cross. She was always active within her community; her name was seen in a newspaper article about the cemetery she is buried in. The "Civic League" which owned the cemetery at the time was announcing plans to clean and spruce up the burial grounds. It was noted that if you had extra shrubbery for the grounds to please contact Annie Chresfield.

Annie never married.

She was a member of Black's Memorial Presbyterian Church of Monroe, NC. Per the write-ups for the church that are in both of the "Heritage Books" for Union County, NC, she volunteered much time, especially with the youth. In honor of her devotion to the children they named the church's daycare center after her, "Annie Chresfield Child Development Center". It is believed that as of 2021 this daycare center is no longer active.

Dr. L. S. Cozart, president of Barber-Scotia College, assisted with her funeral.

(some information for her bio came from her obituary published in The Monroe Journal, 2-24-1959, p.8)

Death and birth dates (& middle name) are from her death certificate -- however, her death certificate has her year of birth as 1885. It is possible that Annie herself placed the grave markers for her parents, brother and self, therefore, it is probable that the birth year on the marker (1886) is correct. Estelle C. Frazier was the informant, we know this is not her sister Estelle as she preceded Annie in death, perhaps this is a niece?
