Larry Wayne Ball, 68, of rural Marshall, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Jim the Wonder Dog Memorial Park.
Born Jan. 3, 1942, in Trenton, he was the son of the late Charles Raymond Ball and Ida Mae Barlow Ball. He attended Tri-County School at Jamesport and graduated from Marshall High School in 1960. He also graduated from Missouri Valley College and University of MO-Columbia. He is survived by his partner in life and longtime friend Ann R. Wright. Previously he was married to Peggy Willis Tavenner. He was a teacher and administrator in Saline and Chariton counties. He also served as area director for the Head-Start Program with Missouri Valley Human Resources. He was a photographer for Inter-State Studios and in recent years he was a carpet mechanic.
Additional survivors include three sons, Terry Lee Ball and his wife, Maureen, of Jefferson City, John Sherman Ball and his wife, Sheri, of Springfield, and Gregory Scott Ball and his wife, Darcie, of Denver, Colo.; Ann's children, Michael Wright and his wife, Christa, and Cindy Schroeder and her husband, Gene; six grandchildren, Brianna, Steven, Katelyn, Sean, Rylan and Matthew Ball; Ann's grandson, Justin Schroeder and his wife, Abby; Ann's great-grandson, Avery Schroeder; one brother, Bob Ball and his wife, Jan, of Seattle, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Raymond Ball and William Wilton (Bill) Ball.
