Carl Eugene Chasteen, 82, a resident of Russellville, died Thursday, December 16, 2010, at his home.
He was born September 15, 1928, at Judsonia to Jessie Lee and Nora Wise Chasteen. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Bertie Windland and Ina Chasteen; and a grandchild.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Effie Penn Chasteen of Russellville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Cathy Chasteen of Texarkana, Arkansas and Mitchell and Tammy Chasteen of Russellville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Iris and Johnny Ferguson of Russellville and Dee and Ben Hawkins of Russellville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, J. L. Chasteen of Van Buren and James and Faye Chasteen of Garfield; two sisters, Lorene Summers of Denver, Colorado and Francis Duncan of Heber Springs; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 17, 2010, at Booger Hollow Cemetery north of Dover with Bro. Eddie Rogers officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
