In 1868 he bought eighty acres of his present farm in Wright Township. His farm now contains 165 acres of land which he has brought under good cultivation. The size of it is 28 x 26 feet, built with all the modern improvements and furnished throughout in good style. Mr. Dotts commenced life for himself without means, but has through industry and perseverance gained his present fine property, and by his fair and honorable dealings has won the respect of all who know him. He is a comrade of Messenger Post, G. A. R., of New York, Iowa.
