Loretta Bray Austin was born June 3, 1910, at Hanlontown, the daughter of Elmer and Ellen (Hauge) Bray. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In 1963 she became a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills and was very active in church circles.

Loretta attended grade school at Hanlontown and graduated from Hanlontown High School.

In March of 1944 she was united in marriage to Andy Austin at the Lutheran parsonage in Mason City. They lived and farmed on the Austin home farm near Thompson for 19 years. In December of 1962, they moved to Lake Mills.

Loretta is survived by one sister, Themla (Mrs. Olaf Lund) of Mankato, Minn; one sister-in-law, Genevieve Bray, of Osage; four nieces; and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andy, on Jan. 5, 1991; and one brother, Alvin.
