Served in the US Army, Sep. 20, 1917 through Mar. 12, 1918, Hq. Co. 7th Inf. He was a son of Elizabeth Lowery & John Williams Jr, a brother of Floyd Williams, and a grandson of James Lowery and Annie McKee Lowery and a great-grandson of John Lowery and Mary Chapman Lowery

At one time, he was a streetcar conductor.

He was married to, and divorced from, Martha Augusta Williams.

He and Martha had a son, who survived both of his parents (and is alive as I write this). Lawrence also adopted a son of his wife Martha and her first husband, Charles E. Albanesius, who was later named Charles R. Williams (now deceased).

Lawrence died in the VA Hospital in Aspinwall.
