December 29, 2002:

Lloyd Stiers,age 61, of Fulton, Missouri died Sunday, December 29, 2002 at the University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, Missouri.

Lloyd was born January 14, 1941, in Callaway County, Missouri, son of the late Aubrey and Helen Myrtle Benskin) Stiers.

He married Mary Lou (Adams) Stiers on September 10, 1961. She survives of the home.

Survivors include a son, Marty Stiers of Fulton, Missouri; three daughters, Karen Hunt and Darla Graves both of Fulton, Missouri and Marla Wetherell of Mokane, Missouri; two brothers, Glen Stiers of Columbia, Missouri and Roy Stiers of Fulton, Missouri; two sisters, Doris McFarland of O'Fallon, Missouri and Delores Martin of Fulton, Missouri; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Lloyd was proceeded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Mr. Stiers was a mechanic, then a truck driver and later he became a firefighter. He served as Fire Cheif for more than nine years. He also owned and operated his own trucking company until his retirement. He built his own race cars which he raced for seven years.

Graveside services are at 3:00PM, Wednesday at the Callaway Memorial Gardens with the Reverand Mike Crowson officiating. Interment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 1:00pm until service time Wednesday at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton. Memorials are suggested to the Lloyd Stiers Memorial Fund.
