BETTY JEAN "BJ" STRAUSS, 71, of Cromwell, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006, at 3:15 a.m., of natural causes, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born May 31, 1935, in Pleasant Hill, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Edward Lee and Ila Mae (Garrett) Hutchings. She married Donald H. Strauss on Sept. 7, 1953. She was a homemaker and helped with the family business D&B Storage of Cromwell.
She was a 1954 graduate of Elmhurst High School, Fort Wayne and former member of Lady Lions, North Webster. Surviving are her husband, Donald of Cromwell; two sons, Keith Edward (Jan) Strauss and Gerald "Jerry" Thomas (Karmel) Strauss, both of Syracuse; two daughters, Gale Ann (Michael) marquardt of Cromwell and Donna Jean Gibson of Syracuse; one sister, Nancy Eileen Brian of Syracuse; one brother, Tommy Lee Hutchings of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; 11 step great-grand-children; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Doris Mae.
