Her tombstone has birth date as 12-31-1888 I have entered the dates from our family records.

Bertie was the oldest child of Charles Clayton Calhoun and Rosa Lee Barnhill Calhoun.
On 04-15-1900 Rosa Lee Barnhill Calhoon died of "Typhoid fever", 10 days later on 04-25-1900 her husband Charles Calhoon died of the same "fever". There were 5 children left to be taken care of. Bertie and her sister Beulah who was 2 mo. old went to live with Laura Calhoon Edwards and her husband John Edwards. Laura had been married for 7 years and did not have any children. Laura was a sister of Charles Calhoon, Bertie & Beulah's father. Bertie was 13 and went to live with Laura to help take care of Beulah. Laura would later have two sons in 1903 & 1906. Before 1906 when Bertie was married, she went to live with her mother's sister Elizabeth Barnhill Ahlfield and her husband Charles.

Bertie's brother Charles and sister Mary went to live with Elizbeth Barnhill Ahlfield when their parents died. By the 1910 Census they are living with Bertie and her family. Bertie's sister Addie Calhoon went to live with Hillory and Susan Summers Calhoun. Hillory and his brother George (Susan's first husband) were brothers of Addies' father Charles Calhoon. My grandfather Alvie Madison Calhoon was the son of George and Susan Summers Calhoon. He and Addie were the same age and she would continue to live with his family in Missouri and later in Arkansas until she married. (Betty Rogers Phillips)

Bertie was married to Richard Elmer Lee on 31 Dec 1928 in Mississipi CO., MO.

When Bertie Allstun was pregnant with Clayton Allstun in 1919, Roy Clayton was working with the railroads and fell into a vat of boiling water and died. Bertie was left with 4 young children to raise and she did various things to support the family - she ran a boarding house and at one time ran a resturant in East Prairie. She was a hard working and honorable woman.
