The graveside service for Inez D. (Close) Barr, 90, of Aberdeen, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Inez died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, surrounded by family at her home in Aberdeen. Arrangements by Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen.
Inez Dorothy Sime was born on June 23, 1920, to Arthur and Edna Elizabeth (Larson) Sime on the family farm in Faulk County. This is the area where she grew up and attended school. Inez graduated from Faulkton High School in 1937. She then went to Chillicothe Business College, Chillicothe, Mo., for one year. After receiving her education, Inez returned to South Dakota. She married Stan Close and they made their home in this area. Inez taught for a while in the public school system. Her husband Stan died and she continued to make her home in the Aberdeen area. Inez then went to work for K.O. Lee Manufacturing in Aberdeen as the head secretary. She worked there for nearly 40 years. While working at K.O. Lee, Inez met Jack Barr. They married in Aberdeen and made their home here. Inez liked animals and especially liked to take their Boston terrier, "Dolly," on walks. Everyone knew it was Inez walking down the street because she always dressed nice and wore a hat. Inez and her mother had also enjoyed traveling together. They took trips all over the country and enjoyed traveling out east.
Grateful for having shared Inez' life are her husband, Jack of Aberdeen; brother, Lloyd Sime of San Diego; and one niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Edna; her first husband, Stan; and one brother.
