Mildred Evelyn Brasington

Mrs. Mildred Evelyn Lea Brasington, 91, of Waycross died early Wednesday morning (December 29, 2010) at Baptist Village Retirement Communities after an extended illness. She was born in Tampa, Hillsborough County, Florida to the late William Orrin Lea and Margaret Hubbard Wolz.

Mrs. Brasington lived most of her life in Waycross. She was a graduate of Waycross High School and retired from the Internal Revenue Service. Mrs. Brasington was also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. At Trinity she was a member of the Mary Martha Sunday School Class. She also was a past president for the Lioness Organization. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, John W. Darley, her second husband W. Henry Brasington, a step-son, B.J. Brasington, two sisters, Estelle Lea Barnes and Edmee Lea Lee.

Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Darley Wilkes, her husband Perry of Hartwell, Georgia, Edmee Darley Barrs of Columbus, Georgia, two step-children, James "Jimbo" Brasington, his wife Olivia of Waycross, Mary Helen Gibson, her husband Charlie of Waycross, a step-daughter-in-law, Penny Brasington of Doraville, Georgia, six grandchildren, Perry Wilkes, Jr. of Mableton, Georgia, Evelyn Wilkes Frangi, her husband Angelo of Buford, Georgia, Christina Wilkes Faloni, her husband Anthony of Dacula, Georgia, Wilson James Barrs, Jr., his wife Lynn of St. Simons Island, Georgia, Bradford Darley Barrs, his wife Jenny of Winter Springs, Florida, Rebecca Barrs Kenimer, her husband Guy of Columbus, Georgia, six step grandchildren, Chris Gibson, his wife Melanie of Woodstock, Georgia, Matt Gibson of Alpharetta, Georgia, Will Gibson, his wife Meagan of Acworth, Georgia, Beth Brasington of Doraville, Georgia, Buff Brasington of Waycross and Anna Brasington of Atlanta, Georgia, twelve great grandchildren, a sister Joan Lea Riley of Sevierville, Tennessee, a brother-in-law Owen Lee of Waycross, a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday beginning at 1 p.m., at the funeral home.
