THE DEATH OF RAYMOND L. PLATT - Raymond L. Platt, 98, of Stockwell, died May 2, at Home Hospital. He was born on Oct 1, 1900, in Stockwell, and was a resident of the Stockwell and Clarks Hill areas throughout most of his life. Mr. Platt married Clella Fleming on June 2, 1923, in Mulberry, and she preceded him in death on March 16, 1988. He was a farmer, and a member of Stockwell United Methodist Church. Mr. Platt is survived by a son, Gerald Platt of Stockwell; four daughters, Mrs. Byron (Mildred) McDole of Lafayette, Mrs. David (Sharon) Need of Frankfort, and Mrs. Rosemary Carlson and Mrs. John (Phyllis) Jackson, both of Merritt, Island, Florida; a brother, Cecil Platt of Rochester, a sister, Sarah Doke of Frankfort; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Richards-Loy and Wheeler Stockwell Funeral Home handled arrangements with the Rev. Mark Hill officiating. Interment Johnson Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Stockwell United Methodist Church or to a charity of choice.
