Isaac Frank Dick oldest known child of David Dick & Louisa Anderson. Enlisted in Co H 13th OH Infantry with brother Abraham; in the Western Campaign, fought at Mission Ridge Chattanooga TN. Married Rebecca Ann Pettit of Damascusville Columbiana Co OH. Children, 5 b. OH, 4 MI - Wesley H (1865) Ida May (1868), Edward C (1869), Walter (1872), Bertha V (1874), Ambrose A (1879), Vesta (1884), Vera (1887) & Veva 1888). The family was in Alliance Stark Co OH in 1870, and at some point early on Isaac obtained land in Alba Chestonia Twp Antrim Co MI near Traverse City, the family removing there just after dau. Berth was born in 1874. The family may have gone there with the Zadock Losier family who were in Alba by 1875-76. Both Isaac & his son Wesley's names appear in the Losier family bible. Wife Rebecca was half-sister to Losier's 2nd wife Margaret, though a good deal younger. Wesley was named for Rebecca's brother Wesley. Clearly the two families were close. Farming in Alba was good, for raising rocks that is. The work it took to clear the rough, hilly land was very hard on both man & beast, producing crops offered little reward. Hard enough that sometime in the 1880s Isaac removed south to farm near Pottersville in Eaton Co MI. The 1890 Surviving Soldiers Schedule shows Isaac residing in nearby Charlotte, apparently having given up on farming. The 1900 census then has wife Rebecca listed as a landlady living in her own home with dau. Bertha & the three youngest - Vesta, Vera & Veva. She is still married, but Isaac is not shown. He then appears twice on the 1910 Census: first boarding in Grand Rapids MI - he is ae 72, a "widower" & proprietor of a pool hall. With him is grown son Walter. A month later, Isaac then appears a second time with Rebecca in Ingham Co east of Charlotte in Lesley Village, still shown as owning a billiard parlor. In July of that same year Rebecca dies in Leslie and is buried back in Charlotte. Meanwhile, dau. Bertha has married Arthur R Conley (c1902). By 1920, the Conley's are in Park Twp, Ottawa Co, immediately north of Holland MI. This is where Isaac F Dick died 4 Feb 1920 at ae 82y4m2d. Informant on his death record is son-in-law Arthur Conley. He may have been living with the Conleys at the time. Isaac F Dick is buried near wife Rebecca in the Dick family plot at Maple Hill Cem in Charlotte MI.
