Bobby Ray "Big Bob" Grissom Sr., 67, Athens, Ala., formerly of Russellville, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at his residence. Mr. Grissom was a native of Franklin County but had lived in Athens for the past seven years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Russellville and was retired from the furniture business. The graveside service will be Thursday, July 22, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Franklin Memory Gardens, Russellville, with burial to follow immediately after the service. Officiating will be the Rev. Gene Balding. He is survived by his wife, Anna Mae Grissom, Athens, Ala.; son, Ray Grissom, Athens, Ala.; daughter, Lynne Tompkins and husband, Bobby, Louisville, Ky.; mother, Mary Grissom, Russellville, Ala.; brother, Ralph E. Grissom Jr., Russellville, Ala.; grandchildren, Landon Tompkins and Seth Tompkins; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Edward Grissom Sr. Pallbearers will be Sam Cantrell, David Chittam, Eddie Grissom, Tinker Malone, Don Matthews, Tom McAlister, Mack Mills and Wayne Thorn. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Underwood, Terry Miller, Delano Lawrence and Wayne Sinclair. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, is directing.
