Kermit Edwin Johnson 94, of Damascus, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Veterans Hospital Little Rock.
He was born Dec. 18, 1915, in Damascus, to the late Harry Thomas and Nettie (Rowe) Johnson.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and participated in the Normandie Invasion and was a Purple Heart recipient.
He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Damascus.
He was precede in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Edith Johnson; two brothers, Eldon Johnson and Eual Johnson; one sister, Eva harness; and one great-grandson Logan Flagg.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen and Dave Smith of Damascus; two grandchildren, Misti and Todd Flagg of Greenbrier and Damon and Angela Smith of Damascus; four great-grandchildren, Conner and Paxton Flagg and Kensi and Griffin Smith; two brothers, H.R. Johnson of Damascus and Robert F Johnson of Witchita, Kan.; and two sisters, Reba Nell Shelby of Fall Branch, Tenn., and Marvelle Davis of Albuquerque, N.M.; and many relatives and friends.
Casketbearers: Damon Smith, Todd Flagg, David Johnson, Jack Johnson, H.C. Wallace and Frank Golden.
Honorary Casketbearers: Russell Hester, Charles Wood, Ken Bailey and Doug Green.
Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. and Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. at Southside Baptist Church in Damascus, with Pastor Steve Stephens officiating.
Burial will follow at Bee Branch Cemetery with U.S. Army Military Honors.
