He was born on September 11, 1922 in Wilton, Kentucky . He was 85 years old. He was preceded in death by mom Martha (Hayes) Hill and dad Matt Hill who raised him after his fathers death , Father William W. "Will" Hayes, Mother Mima {Reeves)Hayes ; two brothers O.B. Hayes and Elmer Hayes ; three sisters , Nettie, Eunice and Thelma Hayes.
One grandson Bobby Jack Hayes; and great granddaughter, Tana Marie Hayes. Junior was a member of Meadow Creek Baptist Church and a Veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife, Dora Cleo (Mackey) Hayes of Rockholds, Kentucky; three daughters Eunice Faye Faulkner and husband Woodrow of Rockholds, Kentucky, Mercedes Stevens and husband Lonnie of Rockholds, Kentucky and Arizona Hayes of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Two sons Bill Ray Hayes and his wife Linda of East Bernstadt, Kentucky and Clifton Hayes and his wife Theresa of Rockholds, Kentucky.
Grandchildren, Greg Lay, Gary Lay, Shawn Lay, Billy Ray Junior Hayes, Susan Ray Hayes , Daniel Paul, Wayne Sanchez, Tony Sanchez, Jessica Hall, Brittney Sanchez, James Hayes, Amy Hayes, Crystal Hayes, Ashley Croley, Kayla Hayes, Shawn Hayes, John Faulkner, Kitty Faulkner, Chuck Faulkner, Melissa Pratt, Michelle Lanham and Lonnie Joe Stevens; 47 great grandchildren; two great-grand children, and a host of family and friends to mourn his passing.
Services Monday June 30, 2008 at the Meadow Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Siler and Rev. Don Farmer officiating .
Burial will be in Hayes Cemetery Rockholds, Kentucky, Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #88 of Corbin, Kentucky.
