Anders Fred Anderson was born in Linkoping, Sweden, June 13, 1861. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Sweden, and lived in Sweden for his first 20 years. In 1881 he immigrated to this country and located with an uncle in Winfield, Iowa. He and Emma Eckey were united in marriage in 1889 (really 1890) at Mount Union, Iowa. They established their home near Winfield, where they lived for 21 years. In 1910 they moved to Rush City.

Before his marriage, he was engaged in the supervision of laying of drain tile on southern Iowa farms. After he was married, he farmed until 1921, when he retired. He was active in the Rush City Co-operative Creamery and supervised the building operations of the present creamery. For a number of years he acted as Mayor of the Village of Rush City.

He departed this life peacefully in his sleep, on Friday, Dec3mber 12, at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 29 days, just 19 short days before he and Mrs Anderson would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. He leaves to survive him his wife, Emma, four children, Henry, Minnie (Mrs. Paul Ebert), Albert and Edward; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and a number of nieces an (sic) nephews. Also two cousins survive, Mrs Hilma Rodelius of Willmar, Minnesota, and Mr Herman Walleen of Kerkhoven, Minnesota.

Services were conducted by the Reverand R. A. Peterson from the Olson Funeral Chapel on December 15, 1947. Mrs Arthur Nelson and Mrs Einar Larson sang "One Sweet Solemn Thought" and "Nearer, My God, to Thee." Accompanied by Mrs. C. C. Wilson.

Pallbearers were Marvin Erickson, Angus McKay, Daniel Kile, Dudley Anderson, Elmer Swanson and Frank Ebert.

Interment was made at the Lutheran Cemetery of Rush City.

Out of town friends and relatives who attended the service were; Mr. And Mrs Oscar Eckey of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Mrs Hilma Rodelius, Mr Nimrod Rodelius, and Mrs Florence Broman, all of Wilmar; Mr and Mrs Curt Raatz of Shell Lake, Wisconsin; Mr and Mrs Daniel Kile of Minneapolis, Mr and Mrs Elmer A. Swanson and Mr Oscar Swanson of North Branch, Mrs Vinton Burgess of Denver, Colorado, Mrs Carl Sawatzke and Mr Arthur Olson of Sandstone.
