Thomas Perris Wright, Sr., age 84, died Monday, September 21, 1992, at his home in Blacksburg. Mr. Wright was a native of Clinton, S.C. He received the BA and MA degrees from Washington and Lee University, and taught at Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music where he also served as faculty manager of athletics. Mr. Wright served as high school teacher, principal and superintendent of schools at Great Falls, S.C., and also served as superintendent of schools at Belton, S.C. In 1958, Mr. Wright joined the faculty of the Department of English at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University where he taught until his retirement in 1973. He was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church, and was a member of the Blacksburg Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon and church historian. Mr. Wright is survived by his wife, the former Ella Gaines Wardlaw; one daughter, Margaret Randall, Delaware, Ohio; two sons, Perrin Wright, Jr., Tallahassee, Fla.; Frank W. Wright, Atlanta, Ga.; and six grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg, with the Rev. D. Cameron Murchison, Jr., officiating. In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to the Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, Church and Eakin Streets, Blacksburg, Va.; or to the New River Valley Hospice, 1806 Prices Fork Road, Blacksburg, Va. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 at the McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
