Funeral services for Tony V. Abbinanti, 83, formerly of Chicago, will begin with prayers at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, and continue with Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church, 75 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove.

Born July 9, 1917, in Chicago, he died Saturday, May 27, 2000, at Northwest Community Healthcare, Arlington Heights. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery.

Prior to his retirement in 1979, Tony was a bus driver and ticket agent employed for more than 35 years by the Chicago Transit Authority. Prior to working for the CTA, he was a bus driver for Chicago Motor Coach.

Tony was a member of the Moose Lodge on Irving Park Road in Chicago.

Survivors include his wife of more than 60 years, Mamie (nee Traina), whom he married on Jan. 9, 1940, in Chicago; sister, Ida (Peter) Abbinanti; and brother, Samuel; sisters-in-law, Nancy (Leonard) Gutkowski, Mary, Rose and Jane Traina; brothers-in-law, Tony, Frank (Janice) and Peter (Diane) Traina; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Samuel; brothers, Jack, Ignatius and Nick; sister-in-law, Lena; and brothers-in-law, Joseph, Russell and Phillip Traina.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
