She was born in Floyd County on September 12, 1928 the daughter of the late Kyle and Nora Phillips Akers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Jeffrey Worrell, two sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Warren Harrison "Weasel" Long; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Mike Conklin of Radford; grandchildren and their spouses, Kimberly and Garry Wright of Pulaski and Jason and Holly Worrell of Draper; great-grandchildren, Nathan Wright and Meriam and Jeffrey Worrell; brothers, James K. and Troy B. Akers, both of Radford; and sisters, Edith Sutphin, and Mary Buckner, both of Radford, and Reva Martin of Christiansburg.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with the Rev. Bobby Lorton and the Rev. Randy Morris officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
