Alice was the daughter of Elmina (Jane Ella) Hoyle Freeman and her first husband Ernest (Elwood) McNealy of Lenoir,North Carolina. After her father died, her mother remarried John Freeman. Alice moved to Iowa with her Mother, step-father and their son, James Haywood Freeman.
She married Henry Arthur (Mike) Overman. They had one son, Joseph Blaine (Jack) Sr. and and two grandsons, Joseph Blaine (Pete) and Donald Albert Overman. They had one great-grandson, Donald Thomas Overman.
Alice's actual grave site is towards the north end of the cemetery near the fence and was marked with a wooden marker that disappeared years ago. Lula Freeman on the stone is her half-sister.
