The remains of Joseph M. Wilson, the widely-known architect, who died last Monday, were interred in South Laurel Hill Cemetery yesterday afternoon. Services were conducted at St. Stephen's Protestant Church, by Rev. Dr. Elwood Worcester. The pallbearers were six members from the vestry of St. Stephen's Church and John McArthur Harris, and Howard S. Richards. Mr. Wilson's late home was at 1106 Spruce street."

His parents were William Hassell and Jane (Miller) Wilson. He was born in Phoenixville, PA and worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad from 1860-1876. He then designed the main exhibition building and memorial Hall for the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia. He and his brother John Allston Wilson and Frederick Thorn established the firm of Wilson Brothers and Co. His younger brother Henry joined them in 1886. The firm went on to design many residences, and commercial and railroad buildings.
