Elvena Zana Hoback was the youngest daughter of Louis and Lizzie Hoback and was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma where her father sold farm implements for J.I. Case Co. The family moved to Oklahoma City very shortly after Elvena was born in 1914. Elvena was the primary care giver to her mother, her father and her brother as they passed from this world. She cared for her older sister until her own frailty would no longer permit it. Her faithfulness to her family was unending.
