ROBERT E BAPTIST CALLED BY DEATH AT ELLIOTT HOME
Robert E Baptist, a lifelong resident of this county, passed away at 11:40 o'clock Thursday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E Elliott, 1129 Freedman Street, following an attack of pneumonia. He was employed for twenty years at the old Fitzsimmons & Kreider mill in this city, and for the past 33 years he has been a farmer northwest of the city.
Mr. Baptist was born May 15, 1858, in this city, a son of John and Mary Baptist. May 27, 1880, he was united in marriage with Eliza Jane Baptist, who preceded him in death last March 28th. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. E Elliott and one son, Robert B Baptist, both of this community. He leaves also the following brothers and sisters: Caroline, Laura and Theodore Baptist, Mrs. Joe DeGoveia, Mrs. John Oliver, Mrs. Ben Andrews and Thomas Baptist, all of Jacksonville; Lewis Baptist of Murrayville, and Mrs. Libby Fairell of California. Eileen, John, Charles and Benjamin Baptist preceded him in death.
The following grandchildren also survive: Frank, Ora, Ross, Marion Lee, W Malcolm, Ina Marie, Roberta Jane, Nellie Marie and George Baptist, all of this city; the Misses Lila and Frances Elliott, and Benjamin and Carl Elliott, all residing here, and Robert Elliott, of Hollywood, CA.
The remains were removed to the Arthur G Cody Funeral Home. Arrangements for the funeral will be announced later.
