Canton-Walter R. Wright, age 89 of Holder Branch Road, died Friday, August 22, 2003 at his residence.

He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late Thomas Leander and Maria Holder Wright.

He was owner and operator of Park Street Barber Shop for 35 years and was a United States Army Veteran of World War II serving in the European Theater in the 555th Antiaircraft Battalion Battery "C".

In addition to his wife, Irene Beddingfield Wright of Canton, he is survived by a daughter, Marsha Kuykendall of Candler; a son, Roger Wright and his wife, Debra of Canton; a step son Max Cordell of Jacksonville, FL as well as five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors conducted by the United States Army. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home.
