Mary Lee Ball Lee, age 85, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Monday, March 14, 2011. She was surrounded by all of her children. Mary was born November, 3, 1925 in Foxworth, MS, to the late Arthur Luke and Gena Sumerall Ball. Mary was a devoted wife and the pillar of her family. She retired as a bookkeeper at Wayne Lee's Grocery and was a member of Arlington Baptist Church where she had many friends and was an avid quilter. She was preceded in death by her loving husband and love of her life, Albert "Lavelle" Lee, her brothers J.W., Edward, and Bobby J. Ball, and her beloved grandson Ben "Bo" Newton. Her survivors include her brother Lavoye (Johnnie Sue) Ball, her children Donna (Alton) Hamilton, Paula (David) Wilcox, Sabrina (Ben) Shafer, David (Tina) Lee, and grandchildren Pat (Kellea) Newton, Jeff (Danelle) Newton, Mathews Newton Hamilton, Ashlyn Newton Hamilton, Lee (Sissy) Hamilton, David Wilcox, Mary Wilcox, Brandy (Shannon) Fontenot, Jennifer Griffin, Benjamin Shafer Jr., Christopher Shafer, and 11 great-grand children.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 2pm on Friday, March 18th for a celebration of her life, officiated by Brother Ben Carlisle at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Jackson County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mary's name to the American Heart Association P.O.
