The family is not, so far, found in Canada 1871, or Minnesota 1870, In Corinna, Wright County, Minnesota, 1 May 1875, Edward is shown, with no wife, and children Nora, Margaret, May Jane, John, Catharine, Elizabeth A., Louisa, and Thomas age 4, all born in Canada. On 24 Mar 1876, Edward married Hattie Dunham, a widow with children of similar ages to those of Edward. That blended family is shown in the 1880 Minnesota census. Except for visits to his scattered daughters during later years, the Maple Lake area was Edward's home, his only remaining son, Tom, stayed on at the farm into the early 1940s.
