MAPLES, ROBERT TAYLOR (BUMPY) - age 90 of Maryville, Tennessee, born February 5, 1920 Passed away on December 21, 2010. He was a member of East Maryville Baptist Church and was employed as a mechanist at Alcoa Aluminum Company for 42 years. He served in World War ll as a paratrooper with the 913 Battalion stationed in the Philippine Islands. He was a graduate of Everett High School and lettered in football, baseball, basketball and track. Robert was the second born of Robert T. Maples and Lucy Justice Maples. Parents and wife, Zona June Patton and Brother James William Maples preceded in death. Survived by his sister Dorothy Jean Garner. He is survived by 2 daughters, Susan Mullaly (Tim) of Franklin, TN and Pam Maples of Mobile, AL.Granddaughters, Alison Hyman and (Kevin), Adrien Lynch and (Craig) and Lindsey Maestas and (Justin). Five great-granddaughters, Ella June Lynch, Maggie Lynch, Maguire Maestas, Marley Maestas and Maura Hyman. The family would like to give thanks to three very special friends; Willa Spears, Margaret Cunningham and Ron Blair. Also a special thanks to the staff of Wellington Place, Blount Memorial Hospice and Palliative Care and Blount Memorial Hospital for the very special care he received. The family will receive friends Friday December 24, 2010 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Sherwood Chapel and Memorial Gardens. Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. With Rev. George Macht officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.sherwoodchapel.net
