He was born November 21, 1927, in Fulton, to the late James Anderson and Stella Agnes (Perry) Sneed. He married Betty Jean Dye on May 13, 1948, in Mexico. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include one son, Donald Gene Sneed of Fulton, five grandchildren, Shellie Summers and Cody and Ashley Sneed, all of Fulton and Sasha and Sabastian Sneed, both of Columbia, two sisters, Helen Teel of Fulton and Norma Spencer of Columbia and his mother-in-law, Flossie (Meyers) Dye Holtkamp.
He is also preceeded in death by one son, Glenn Duane Sneed, one sister and four brothers, Clifford Jarriott Solomon Sneed-infant, James Richard Sneed.
He worked for Harbison Walker Refractories for forty-two years, retiring in 1992.
He served in the Merchant Marines during peacetime and the Army during the Korean War.
He was an elder at Central Christian Church and a member of its choir. He was a lifetime member of Fulton VFW Post No. 2657 and Gideons International. He enjoyed gardening and gospel music.
Services will be 1pm Saturday at Central Christian Church.The Reverend Harold Reisch will officiate. Burial will follow in the Central Christian Church Cemetary.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm today at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton.
Memorials are suggested to the Central Christian Church choir.
