Son of Noah Alexander Whitley and Dovie Almond. Husband of Verina Serenna McSwain.
Information obtained from Death Certificate.

The following information was submitted by FindAGrave contributor, Brenda Combs.

The Green D. Whitley Cemetery and the Old Whitley Cemetery are the same but the Alison Whitley Family Cemetery is a different cemetery. Alison Whitley gave the land for this cemetery to the Jones Hill Church for a cemetery but the church had problems & later became or joined Smith's Grove Church. The Whitley's still use this cemetery. My sister, uncles, grandparents, great grandparents & others are buried there. I go there several times a year. It is located behind a business on 10th.Street in Oakboro.
This cemetery is listed in the old cemetery book " Abandoned Cemeteries of Stanly County" ( pg. 94 ) published in 1981 and also in "These Hallowed Grounds" ( the new Cemetery Book on pg. 177 ) published in 2012.
After the Jones Hill Church split, some of those who were buried at the Alison Whitley Cemetery were actually dug up and reburied at Smith's Grove. In the woods behind the cemetery is an abandoned vault from this time.

Dovey Almond,Noah's wife is not buried here. He is buried beside his 3rd wife, Mary Smith. I believe another of Noah's wives may be buried in The Green D. Whitley Cemetery.

I use Find-a-Grave for my research so I realize that the info here should be correct. Also, Eby's wife's name is Varina Isabel McSwain--not Serenna. She is my grandmother.
