Carol Lee Custer, 56, of 833 Whittier Ave., Winchester, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at her home.
Ms. Custer was born Aug. 7, 1945, in Harrisonburg, and was the daughter of Margaret Fawley Custer of Fulks Run and the late Clarence A. Custer.
She was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church in Fulks Run, where she was a trustee, organist, and adult Sunday school teacher. She graduated from Broadway High School in 1963 and from Sepherd College in 1968. She received a master's degree in education from the University of Virginia in 1971.
She taught in the Frederick County School system for 31 years. She was a health education teacher, department chairman at James Woods High School in Winchester for seven years, where she also coached tennis, track and field. She was a member of the NEA, VEA, Frederick County Education Association, AAHPERD and the VAHPERD.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by three nephews.
Pastor Kay Lanasa will conduct the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church in Fulks Run. Burial will be at Mount Grove Cemetery in Fulks Run.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, 308 North Braddock St., Winchester.
