Wayne John Ditsworth, Jr. died peacefully in Mobile Infirmary on December 18, 2017 in Mobile, AL, at the age of 81.

Wayne is survived by his wife Dot Smith Ditsworth of Mobile, AL; his daughter Denise Ditsworth Mummert (Kent) of Clinton, MS; daughter Debora Ditsworth West (Robert) of Kingsport, TN; son Dale Michael Ditsworth (Paige) of Pascagoula, MS; and daughter Melissa Smith of Mobile, AL. Wayne is also survived by sister Mary Alice Ditsworth of Grand Bay, AL; Hazel Ditsworth Gilstrap (Eddie) of Cleburne, TX; Grady Leon Ditsworth (Nancy) of Ocala, FL; David Anthony Ditsworth (Annie) of Pascagoula, MS; Annette Maxwell Hudson of Pascagoula, MS; Janice Maxwell Shepherd of Gautier, MS; Richard “Butch” Maxwell (Guy) of Daphne, AL; and Sharon Maxwell McVey of Pascagoula, MS.

Wayne was grandfather to Stephen Caudle West (Ashley) of Franklin, TN; John Caleb Mummert (Claire) of Houston, TX; Joel Adams West of Arlington, VA; Daniel Kent Mummert (Sarah) of Durango, CO; Rebecca Carolyn West of Boston, MA; Sara Catherine Ditsworth of Pascagoula, MS; Amy Nicole Ditsworth of Pascagoula, MS; and great grandfather to Rebekah, Corban and Hyun Mummert of Houston, TX; and Eli and Anna West of Franklin, TN.

Wayne was preceded in death by Carolyn Adams Ditsworth and siblings Beulah Ditsworth Evans, Nan Ditsworth Roberts, and Robert "Robbie" Henry Maxwell.
Wayne was born on January 1, 1936, in Lucedale, MS, to Wayne John Ditsworth, Sr., and Della Rouse Ditsworth. He enjoyed playing golf at Pascagoula Country Club and walking in the Mobile mall with friends. Wayne was a second-generation deacon at First Baptist Church in Pascagoula, MS. Wayne retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula after 39 years.

Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Pascagoula from 1-2:30 pm Friday, December 22, 2017. Funeral will be held at 3:00 pm in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church. Graveside services will follow at Jackson County Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to either the Angioma Alliance (www.angiomaalliance.org) or Hurricane Relief through First Baptist Church in Pascagoula.
