Amelia M. Akers, 84, 410 W. Summit, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 1991, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls, with the Rev. Joseph Korf officiating. Burial will be in St. Otto's Catholic Cemetery of Fergus Falls.
She was born Feb. 22, 1907, in Harvey, N.D., the daughter of Gottlieb and Martha (Fleckenstein) Leintz. She worked for Northwest Bell Telephone Co. in Harvey for many years. She married F. Leo Akers on Feb. 16, 1926. They lived in Harvey until 1962, when they moved to Fergus Falls. Mr. Akers died May 6, 1977. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Mrs. Joe) Goggin of Red Wing and Bonnie (Mrs. John) Zins of Flasher, N.D.; two sons, Richard of Fargo and L. James of Austin, Texas; three sisters, Kathryn Keib of Midland, Mich., Martha Varey of Los Angeles, and Helen Cullen of Willmar; a brother, Edward Leintz of Los Angeles; 21 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday with a parish Bible vigil at 7:30 p.m. at the Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls.
