Robert Carnahan, 80, of Rolla, Missouri has died from congestive heart failure. He's the older brother of the late Missouri Governor Mel Carnahan.

He was the son of ASJ and Mary K. Carnahan.

He was a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia and owned a real-estate company in Rolla. He was president of the state's association of Realtors in 1979 and retired in 1985.

He had been watching the Cardinals baseball game on Friday while propped up in bed. He died shortly after midnight at Phelps County Regional Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Oma of 59 years. Also surviving are his three children, Robert Carnahan and wife Peggy, Mary Ann Amsinger and husband Dan and Katy Carnahan. Seven grandchildren, Jennifer Perry, Jeff Carnahan, Bill and Brian Stoltz, Shannon Carnahan and Denise and Jesse Amsinger. He is also survived by sister-in-law Jean Carnahan, niece Robin Carnahan and nephews Russ and Tom Carnahan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Betty Carnahan Stoltz, brother Mel Carnahan, and nephew Randy Carnahan.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at Christ Episcopal Church in Rolla, Missouri.
