SET FOR TOMORROW
Funeral services for a pioneer Carlsbad settler, Richard G. Adams, will be held at 4 p.m. tomorrow in the West Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Murphy Phillips, pastor of the Hillcrest Church of Christ, will officiate, and burial will be in Carlsbad Cemetery.
Adams, who was 83 years old, died Saturday in a local hospital after being in failing health for the last few months. His home was at 320 North Eighth.
Born Jul. 28, 1869, in Gonzales County, Tex.; he first came to this area in 1891. He married the former Sarah Cook in 1886 and was in the cattle business near Seven Rivers until he retired.
Adams is survived by his wife; five daughters, Mrs. J.E. Howell of Lakewood, Mrs. W.D. Angell of Artesia, Mrs. G.P. Dobyns, and Mrs. F.B. Adams of El Monte, Calif., and Mrs. Baxter Heard of Penasco, N.M.; two sons, Richard L. Adams of Long Beach, Calif., and Elvin Adams of Bowie, Tex.; and two brothers, J.R. Adams of Medina, Tex., and L.B. Adams of San Antonio, Tex.
In addition, he is survived by nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Fanning of Artesia; Ernest McGonagill, Roy Angell and Forrest Lee of Lakewood; Will Truitt of Queen Route, and John Heard of Carlsbad
