He was born July 28, 1920, to George Tom and Adda Pearl (Gibbs) Collier in Rector.
Wayne grew up at Tywhop and attended Union Grove School 1-10th grade. He then graduated from Rector High School in 1938.
He was united in marriage to Ruth Jones on Jan. 30, 1942. He then entered the Air Force in August of that year. He served until February 1946.
While they lived in Newport, Wayne worked and operated Farmers Supply and Farmers Elevator for 35 years. During this he served eight years as a member of the Board of Directors and a two-year term as Mayor of Newport.
After retiring to Piggott, the family was involved in raising cattle, horses and farming.
Wayne was a member of the Thornton Street Church of Christ in Piggott.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, and his parents, George and Adda Collier.
Survivors include his son, Kenny Collier and wife Barbara of Piggott; two grandsons, Brian and wife Karen of Campbell and Keith and wife Jessica of Greenway; six great-grandchildren, Cameron, Kerrigan and Jayden Collier of Greenway, Rylie Collier-Siebert of Glennonville, Mo., Cody and Madison Fielder of Campbell; one sister, Jean Collier Martin of Gurnee, Ill., and several nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Pallbearers were: J.C. McMinn, Pat McCarron, Mike Morgan, Larry Thompson, Dale Vangilder and Chuck Schulte.
Honorary pallbearers were: Hardin Hill, Charles Hollis, J.L. May, Bill Irby, Neil Morgan, Gerald Morris, Jerry Grider, Dub Cook, Dr. Greg Mallard, Phil Daffron and Junior Wiley.
Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery at Rector.
