"Catherine Altringer, 71 years and 9 months old, died at her home, 380 Superior street yesterday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. She was one of the best known German-American women in Aurora. She leaves, besides her husband, three sons, Jacob, T. H. and N. J. Altringer; one daughter, Mrs. Frank Holmes [sic], and several grandchildren.
The funeral will be held from the late home tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock and at 9:30 from St. Nicholas church. Interment will be in St. Nicholas cemetery." - Aurora Beacon, July 24, 1912
