William was a retired farmer, a native of Limestone County and a member of the Hubbard Masonic Lodge 530. He died on Saturday, 9 April 1960 in a Marlin hospital and was buried on Sunday, 10 April 1960. Services were held in the Shelton Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Olin Waldrip officiated. Burial was in the Fort Parker Memorial Park.
William and Sophronia married in 1900, Limestone County, Texas.
For many years he purchased peanuts and shipped them to various locations by rail from Groesbeck, TX. He became known around central Texas as the "Peanut Man".

Surviving are a brother, Walter M. Grigsby of Comanche; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Stella Grigsby of Eastland; and a grandchild.
