Mrs. Nancy C. Brooks, 93, died at 9:30 p.m. yesterday in the Velwyn Sanitarium, 820 West North Street, leaving five children, 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Brooks had been in failing health one year. She was born near Long Grove, a community east of Moweaqua and live in the Moweaqua area most of her life. She came to Decatur 22 years ago form Galesburg.
She was a daughter of David and Cytha Jane Wilson Attebury and was married in Decatur in 1874 to Alfred T. Brooks who died in 1931. A son and two daughters also preceded her in death. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Emma Watson and Mrs. Rosa Rideout, Decatur; three sons, Clarence and Floyd of Galesburg and Roy of Texas; a sister, Anna Attebury of Oreana, 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. The body is at the Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home where friends may call after 6 p.m. today. Funeral services will be at the funeral home chapel at 3 p.m. Friday.
