Carolyn Dormeier, 83 of Evansville, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2010, at the home of her daughter, in Newburgh.

Carolyn was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and member of VFW 1114 Ladies Auxillary. She was employed with the Evansville School Corporation for over 27 years, working as a secretary for various Evansville schools for 17 years and was known as Grandma Dormeier with WPSR Radio at Central High School for her remaining 10 years. Caroline enjoyed crocheting, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Charles John Dormeier (Debbie), of Evansville; daughters, Barbara Ledford, of Evansville, Susie Ludwig (Lendall), of Newburgh, Elizabeth "Betty" Shipley (Larry), of Keosauqua, Iowa, Donna Galloway, of Evansville, Kathy Dixon, of Evansville and Martha Knight (David), of Evansville; 15 grandchildren, Glenn and Garrick Ledford, Angela Keller, Melanie Johnson, Jeremy Ludwig, Amy Ingersoll, Jason Shipley, Jolene Galloway, Chuck Dixon, Rene Dixon, Kristi Givens, Sara Knight, Jonathon and Lyndie Dormeier and Heather Johnson; 18 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Byrl Weil-Chapman; and many nieces and nephews.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband, Charles; sons, William Dormeier and Robert Johnson; granddaughter, Emily Ludwig; and brother, Donald Weil.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2010, at Ziemer Funeral Home, Central Chapel, 626 N. First Avenue, and will continue from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 308 N. First Ave., Evansville, Ind. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. at the church, with Reverend Arlene Oakey officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
