Carl E Burton, 87, of Stonington, passed away December 17, 2010 at 2:00am at Meadow Manor Nursing Home in Taylorville.
He was vorn June 7, 1923 in Stonington Township, the son of Lemual and Catherine (Carroll) Burton. He married Betty Davis on October 31, 1946 in Stonington. He was a retired Coal Miner from Peabody Mine #10 in Pawnee. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington and United Mine Workers Union. He was a WWII Army Veteran. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, sons: Mark Burton of New Mexico, daughter: Lisa (Mark) Millburg of Auburn, grandchildren: Barbara Kearney of Taylorville, Jerry Burton of Lincoln, Alex Shamloo of Peoria, Lindsey Shamloo of Auburn, Cody Burton of Texarkana, TX, step grandchildren: Marissa Millburg of Springfield, Meghan Millburg of Pawnee, great grandchildren: Logan and Brandon Kearney of Taylorville, Reagen Burton of Texarkana, TX, brother: Don Burton of Taylorville, sisters: Della Myers of Pana, Norine Nolan of CA and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son: Dennis, 3 brothers: Leonard, Bill and Walter.
Visitation will be held from 10-11am Monday, December 20, 2010 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral services will be held at 11am Monday, December 20, 2010 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Deacon Ray Roth officiating. Burial will be in Old Stonington Cemetery with Military Rites.
