Ernest Kolodner, 83, Bradenton, died Dec. 30, 1999.

He was born Oct. 14, 1916, in Calera, Ala., and came to Manatee County 64 years ago from Alabama. He was a retired owner of Asmans Department Store on Manatee Avenue East in Bradenton. He was an Army veteran of World War II, receiving two Bronze Stars and the Combat Infantry Badge. He served in Okinawa during the Korean War, retiring as a major.

Survivors include a daughter, Marcia Shrago of Piedmont, Calif.; a nephew, Jack Kaplan of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, Cortez Road Chapel. Private burial will be in Beth Shalom Cemetery in Sarasota.

Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.
