Sarah married James Anderson, July 11, 1846, at St. Marks in Newtownards, the parish church. She was the daughter of James Patterson, a weaver. When she married James Anderson, she was a minor. James and Sarah had 14 children, 8 of whom survived childhood. Ellen was born in Ireland, Samuel, Elizabeth, Sarah and Anne were born in Bridgton, a suburb of Glascow. William, Jane and Jessie were born in Brussels, Huron, Ontario. James and Sarah moved to Chicago in 1889 where Ellen and William lived.
