LUELLA, FOSDICK, 97, of Lamoni, Iowa, died on Saturday, October 2, 2010, at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa. Graveside Memorial Services were 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 6. 2010, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Lamoni, Iowa with Mary Case officiating, with arrangements through Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home of Leon and Lamoni.

LUELLA FOSDICK ... Luella Charlotte Fosdick of Lamoni, Iowa, was born in Wisconsin on July 14, 1923 and passed away October 2, 2010 at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa at the age of 87 years. Her parents were William Arthur and Charlotte Sophia McClurg. Luella lived in Wisconsin until she was six months old and then moved to Des Moines, Iowa.
She worked in Des Moines at Paramount Theatre, as a cashier for Sears, and at an insurance company until she graduated from East High in Des Moines. She met her husband Jessie LeRoy "Bud" Fosdick and married him in October 1944. To this union one son was born, William (Bill) Emerson Fosdick.
Lu and Bud lived around New Virginia and then Kellerton, Iowa. She helped milk cows and raise Bill. They moved north of Lamoni in 1962 and then into town. Luella lived in their home until July 2006, when she moved to Crown Colony for health reasons.
She worked in Lamoni at the Coffee Shoppe run by Rita Bierlein, then as a housekeeper in Tess Morgan Dorm at Graceland University for 19 years until retirement. Luella then worked as a cashier at the Commons, until age 84 due to health problems. She loved working and seeing the college students as they came to eat. She could tell you their numbers just by seeing their faces in the Commons.
Luella collected salt and pepper shakers, which she had over 500 different ones. She also did gardening and raised flowers. Luella loved to line dance and listen to George Strait music. She enjoyed her bus tour to Alaska with Betty Elliott. Luella enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bud in 1986; brothers Frank and Infant brother Charles; and sisters Jessie and infant sister Vera.
Left to mourn are son Bill Fosdick and wife Janice of Lamoni; grandchildren: Charles Fosdick and wife Teri Bethany, Missouri, Kim Fosdick of Lamoni, W.D. Fosdick of Lamoni, Michelle Fosdick of Atchison, Kansas, Mike Fosdick of Lamoni, and Randy Dowden-deParrot of Texas; great grandchildren: Josh, Justin, and Jason Fosdick of Bethany, and Amber and Kaleb Bootman of Lamoni; 3 step-children: Jack Fosdick and wife Sheila of Indianola, Iowa, Karen Smith and husband Larry of Des Moines, and Betty Carmody of Las Vegas; grandchildren: Sam, Mike, Kelly, Billy, Robin, Marty, Shannon, Lori, David, and Brenda; several great-grandchildren; brother Vernon McClurg and wife Marilyn of Des Moines; sister-in-law Lena Mae Vanderflught of Grand River, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.
