CARLSBAD - Anna Bertha Curtis Hood, 81, of Black River Village Road, died Friday, Dec. 8, 1995, at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at West Funeral Home Chapel. Dale Kaylor, minister in Desert View Congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses will be officiating. Burial will be in Carlsbad Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by West Funeral Home.
Anna Bertha Curtis was born Oct. 4, 1914, in Adna, Wash., to Benjamin Lafayette Curtis and Lessie May Lamb Curtis.
At an early age, the Curtis family moved to Montgomery County Ark., near Story, Ark. In 1928 the family moved to Eddy County, settleing in the Otis and Loving area.
On Aug. 18, 1934, se and Ralph E. "Jack" Hood married in Carlsbad.
Mrs. Hood lived with her husband in the Loving area and farmed until 1942, when they moved to Dumas, Ark., farming there until 1944 when they returned to Loving.
In 1946, the Hood's moved to Black River Village, where they had since made their home.
Mrs. Hood was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 8, 1995, an by her brother, Paul Curtis.
She was a homemaker and active as one of Jehovah's Witnesses for 40 years.
Survivors include Sons Eugene Hood of Carlsbad, Gordon Hood of La Grange, Texas, and Wayne Hood of Hobbs; daughters, Bonnie Clement and Mary Lou Ballard, both of Carlsbad; brothers, Moses Curtis of San Jacinto, Calif., Lowell Curtis of Checotah, Okla., Talmadge Curtis of Tularosa, N.M. and Harvey Curtis of McCurtain, Okla; sisters, Lou Vita Wakefield of Vacaville, Calif, Ruth Moore of Pine Dale, Wyo., Wanda Wagner of Shelton, Wash., and Norma Hood of Kingsland, Texas; 15 grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and 16 step great-grandchildren.
John Hood, Roby Eaton, Salty Hughes, Dale Hood, Acey Hood, David Randal, Ray Mastran and Curtis Hood will serve as pallbearers.
