LAURA BELLE MORRIS CONNER
Laura Belle Morris, daughter of Andrew and Clarinda Morris, was born in Brown county, Ohio, on March 3, 1863, and passed away on March 29, 1943, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Floy Goater, at the age of 80 years and 26 days.
She came to Wayne county, Iowa at the age of 12. At an early age she united with the First Baptist church at Promise City, Iowa.
On December 3, 1879, she was married to John Conner, who preceded her in death on April 16, 1933. To this union were born six children, two of whom died in infancy.
The children left to mourn her loss are two sons, William H. Conner and Ernest Earl Conner, of Chariton Iowa; two daughters, Mrs. Floy Goater, of Chariton, Iowa, and Mrs. Goldie Tatman, of Lawrence, Kansas.
She also leaves 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, and a host of friends and neighbors to mourn her passing.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. E. F. Partridge, were held at two o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Beardsley Funeral Home and burial was in the Chariton cemetery.
One grandson, Corp. Charles Goater, wished to be present at this memorial service, but duties prevented.
