Mr. Basham was born November 9, 1923 in Angelina County, Texas and he died Wednesday, May 28, 1997 in a local hospital.
He was a retired crane operator with Lufkin Industries after 34 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 and he was a ten year member of the Lufkin VFW. Mr. Basham was Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice "Susie" Basham; daughters & sons-in-law, Betty and Johnnie Smitherman, Venita and George Knight and Junie and Randy Stephens; daughter, Rachel Rogers; 7 grandchildreb; 4 great-grandchildren; sister & brother-in-law, Barbara and Bennie Gresham and brother, J. E. Basham.
Pallbearers will be James McDougald, Joseph Stephens, Randall Stephens, Aaron Knight, Joe "Woody" Evans, Jim Hope, Larry Davis and Garland Bates.
