THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, December 24, 1972, p. 9: “James A. Miears, longtime resident and farmer at Blossom, died at 8:25 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph’s Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ira Thompson and the Rev. C. G. Renfro officiating. Internment will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Miears was born March 4, 1888, in Pecan Gap. He married Miss Claudia Ann Boren, who survives, on May 21, 1911. He was a member of the Methodist church at Blossom and of the Woodmen of the World. Survivors other than his wife include four daughters: Mrs. Joe Baxter of Bryan, Mrs. Arthur Barrett of Harrison Ark., Mrs. Royce Whitten of Denton and Mrs. G. L. Skidmore of Paris; five sons: Lawrence Miears of Blossom, Johnny Miears of Houston, Marcus Miears of Paris, Billy Miears of Dallas and Jack Miears of Bedford. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.”
